Large Scale Change – Said Dawlabani
April 28 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
What motivates people like Don Beck, a tenured professor with a young family to leave the security of his academic career and embark on a journey full of challenge and uncertainty? What motivated dozens of Beck’s followers to sideline lucrative careers in the pursuit of something bigger than themselves? How does the Gravesian model call on us to tap into our highest potential to serve the world?
While many use Spiral Dynamics in an organizational context, how can it be used for large scale change?
Welcome to Psychology at the Large Scale, a model that Don Beck and Elza Maalouf proposed to the APA as a new branch of psychology in 2010. It is also known as Large-Scale systems change. This is the application of Gravesian research, Spiral Dynamics concepts, and Beck’s academic background in social psychology to affect change at the larger Holonic structures that define countries, regions, and the world.
In this presentation Said Dawlabani, Elza Maalouf’s husband and the cofounder of the Center for Human Emergence Middle East will present the toolkit for Large Scale systems change that was used in the field in Israel and Palestine as the documented case study. He will also discuss the changes the model needs as we enter a whole new stage of human existence in the epoch of the Anthropocene.
